Portion advise?
Hi Sandy
You won't feel ANY restriction this early out as your tummy is damaged from surgery and takes about 6-8 weeks for the nerves etc to heal enough to feel anything at all. It then takes about 3-4 months to heal fully. This is why weighing an measuring is so important early out as you can damage your new tummy before you know it.
Liquids, including shakes don't really "fill your tummy" in the same ways dense proteins do. Once you are on real foods in about 6-8 weeks. You will definitely feel it then.
Always under eat. If your plan says 1/2 a cup of something, eat 1/4 of a cup and see how you feel. If you don't think you need more, don't eat it. Your head will tell you that you need it all because it looks like such a tiny amount, but it won't be long before you feel your body go "no more thanks". Less is best.
Nope wasn't asking your permission. I don't need anyones permission for anything. I know my plan and I know it was too much food for me at one time. So I was asking for ADVICE. You know questions, that's what people do here. They ask questions and get help.
I appreciate the rest of your response and of course I know what I should do and it makes sense; just trying to get a grasp and figure things out as I go. I don't seem to get sick on anything so far. So, less is better at this point for me and that's what I'll do until something changes.
Thank you.
I'm 13 weeks post op and still eat 2oz of protein (3x a day/meals). I have no desire to try for more and I still don't have the fullness feeling so 2oz is perfectly fine for me. Last night I had 2oz turkey, 2 tablespoons mashed potatoes, 2 tablespoons green beans and didnt finish everything. I get between 80-100 grams of protein and stay under 625 calories.
I think you are doing just fine and if you dont need to increase the amount, no need to increase the amount.
