I had Aetna HMO too it was a $52,000 surgery, glad I only had to pay co-pays :) Insurance changed now and its a good thing b/c I would have had to pay 20+% so Id still be FAT :( Good Luck you will do fine!! kiss

I have choice pos II thru costco. I did 4 office visits with my pcp, 1 nut appt, 1 pa appt, pshyc eval and support group meetings.

I have Aetna Choice POS II thru my husband's job.  My requirements were 3 visits with NUT, 3 for psych eval, & 3 with surgeon (although that last may be the surgeon's req).  I won't be done with pre-op til next month, but I'm assuming approval will go smoothly.  I'm planning for surgery on June 19, almost exactly one month after you. :)

It's so crazy to me that we all have the same insurance and we all have different rules. Why is my Aetna PPO requiring 6 NUTS? Anyway, it's crazy and interesting I guess. Congrats again on your approval. Look forward to joining you on the surgery-date-scheduled bench soon!

I think a lot has to do with what type of plan you have with aetna. mine is costco aetna which is different than regular aetna. Also a lot of surgeons offices just assume everyone has the 6mo requirement.

To Madsmommy - we are similar weight. I was told by aetna that I had to have a co-morbidity, which I don't. Did they accept you without a co-morb?

They may have submitted hypertension and prediabetic but not on meds. My bp is high only sometimes and I was able to get my a1c down with diet.
