Are VSG males required to take the same vitamins as women? What about iron? How much of each? Confused. Thanks.

I've never heard of men having to take anything different than women.  I take Centrum Complete Chewable and I would think it would work for everyone.  My plan says that the multivitamin should contain 400 mcg folic acid and 10 mcg zinc, and Centrum Chewable meets these, it is what my surgeon recommended so I just did the easy thing and went with that.  They also recommend 1000mg of calcium everyday.

As far as the iron, that will depend on your lab results.  My iron was low, so I had to add an iron pill.  I think that is more common for women than men.  My B-12 was also low, so I take a B-12 shot every 2 weeks.

I'm a women and just take 2 centrium multi, B12, calcium & D3.

Based on test I have to take zinc, seems PPI's can cause this and they put me on 2X a day for a year.  And I was already on them 2X a day for the band.

My doctor has me taking iron for a few months after surgery. Or will, when I do.

My surgeon has everyone on the same vitamin regiment. I'm sure it might be adjusted after my first set of labs next month.
