4 Month Post Op
Wow these four months have flown by! I have not felt this good in over 20 years! I have more energy and love to go clothes shopping.
I have lost 52 lbs since my surgery and am now at a total weight loss of 87 pounds from my high weight in April 2012. Each day, I stay between 600-700 calories, under 40 grams of carbs and 35 in fat. I am trying to increase my water intake but only get in about 48 ozs a day. I started working out at the Y - usually 5 times a week. I have set my goal at 140-145 lbs which will have me in the BMI normal range.
I am at the point in which I need some protein ideas. I have chicken, fish, cottage cheese, eggs, and cheese. Anyone have some other ideas of what I can eat that is high in protein will be helpful.
Please keep my sister, Kim Whitehead, in your thoughts. Her surgery is on Monday, June 10th with Dr. Curry in Cincinnati. I am so proud of her!
If you are on the fence about having this surgery, do it. I have no regrets!
I love red meat. I choose to eat it around two - three times a week - usually grass fed local bison or beef. Pork tenderloin is very lean, you just need to watch the cooking time so you don't dry it out. You can always do jerky, bu****ch the carb count. I eat a lot of lettuce wraps - taco, Asian, whatever fancy strikes me.
Congrats on your success! And you should really try to get in more fluids especially if you're working out. :)
Good luck to your sister!
I have been eating ground turkey as a substitute for ground beef in my favorite recipes. I can't have red meats until 3 months out. I also make a tuna salad with canned peas Seafood is great. Sea scallops, crab meat salad, salmon, etc all go down really easy.
I'm so glad to hear you are feeling good and have more energy. Congratulations on a job well done.
best wishes,
Carol
