Thanks Tom, I will!
1 year tomorrow afternoon. I also remember us being told to pipe down - there were sick people in some of the rooms. lol

Yes, it's been an amazing year. You all skinny and pedaling all over, me no longer "the fat one" wherever I go and ready to head off for adventure at the drop of a hat, Ronnie bragging about her latest "size small" find when out shopping.

Something that strikes me often - how did we get through the day at 300#? Really - how did we function? When Barry and I were in San Diego we did some shopping, and since it was only a couple of kilometers we just walked back to the hotel with our healthy back bags bulging. As we were walking along, I found myself thinking,"This bag is only about 10# and I'll be glad to dump it on the bed. How on earth did I get through the day carrying over 10 TIMES as much everywhere I went?"

Amazing is absolutely right.

Well, we got through the day all right, but not a lot left over for cycling, or running, etc... I think we "settled" for what we saw as normal. And it was "OK" but now is so much better!

Here I am now, trying to shave 1 lb or two off my bike... A year ago that would have been laughable!  Now it actually makes a difference.

Best of luck to Barry on his journey!

I'm glad your DH is doing so well! That's great. Mine uses a CPAP too... and if he goes without it for 30 minutes before I come to bed, I'm in there thwacking him to put his mask on. So that tells you, along with the amazng BP news btw, that he is really really doing well. Congrats. He's got a great role model too!

Thanks Ellen.

Yep - Barry used to be an orchestra of one - we could easily hear him from the main floor when he got going. I actually recorded him one night - made him listen the next day, and took the recording with me when we went to talk with our GP. (His sleep study was 4 days later)

I'm amazed now to walk into our bedroom and barely hear him - and it's wonderful to see him with normal colour. Even with the cpap his skin was often grey...

He asked our GP about the surgery about months ago, and was told he didn't need it - just lifestyle changes. Well, he tried that, yet again, and couldn't sustain being hungry all the time along with being exhausted ALL the time. When he decided to have the surgery anyway he chose to not tell our GP, knowing that aftercare won't be an issue. (GP is fine with doing mine) He doesn't need to go in for 2 months (prescriptions) and is looking forward to showing him a trimmer, healthier Barry - who needs way less drugs.
