cream soups tasting soooo good

Post op day 4 and my husband gave me some sweet potato and tomatillo soup! Amazingly delicious! Still sore but off pain meds and slept flat in the bed last night.

Every post op diet is different - For me for the first two weeks it was all clear broths.

That said, be very careful with cream soups.  They are usually laden with calories and carbs due to the cream and the roux that is the base of most of them.  That kind of calorie bomb you don't need until maintenance.

Look up Elina's green chicken soup recipe - You will likely enjot that very much if you like Tomatillo.

Thanks for the link....my post op was clear liquids first three days then full liquids until I see my Dr at a week. She said not to worry at this point about the calories since I am getting so little in but to try for the lower carb options. I can see how those could sabatoge progress.

I second this! I could not eat another sip of broth and my surgeon allows cream soups on day 3 so I took advantage and had a small portion of cream of chicken soup. It felt like I was eating a gourmet meal lol.
