I am about 6 weeks out and the amount of liquid I can take in is limited... But the last 2 days, I feel like drinking tons of water! Any tips on how to quench that thirst?

Wh is your liquid intake limited at 6 weeks out?

I probably should clarify.... I feel like chugging a liter of water! Doc said to drink whatever I can, min. 64oz. I'll take a few sips and be full (my pouch limitation), but still really really thirsty!

Are you able to get in at least 64 ounces of liquids per day? Thirst can be a sign of dehydration, so just make sure you're actually getting in enough fluids. It can be really hard to get in enough water in the early weeks or months. Just keep sipping water all day. I don't have any other suggestions to get rid of your thirst though. I just wanted to mention dehydration.

Thanks... I am getting enough, but maybe I need more. Since you brought that great point up, I was outside a bit today.

It's just super odd because its gone on for a few days.

i find adding some flavor to some of my intake throughout the day helps quench my thirst.  I use crystal light pink lemonade and that helps alot

You may have been given instructions to avoid straws, but if you were not (my surgeon was fine with them), I found using a straw helped (and still helps).  If your sleeve won't tolerate a large amount, just keep sipping all day long.  It will get easier as time goes on.

Powerade Zero.  I have been drinking Powerade Zero since my surgery.  It got me through those weeks when I couldn't take in a lot of fluids.

I'm 6 months out and I still drink it everyday.  If I get in 8 glasses a day (6 will be water & 2 will be Powerade Zero).
