Love/Hate relationship with Sleeve

Ok I just have to get this off my chest because I've been irritated from the beginning of getting sleeved...

First off, let me say that I am glad to have the sleeve and wouldn't change anything at all! It's a great tool and I feel good knowing that I'm losing weight and feeling much better about myself...inside and out. However, I'm hating the sleeve because I really want to drink more water at times but I'm full from eating and it seems to take quite some time for my food to digest no matter how light I eat. It's just frustrating when you're thirsty and want to drink, drink, drink, but your stomach says no, no, no! It's also the reverse sometimes when I want to eat. I'm only a few weeks out from surgery but I miss being able to take a drink of water anytime I want. Quite frankly all these rules about when and how much to drink/eat is just getting on my last nerve. I guess what I'm getting at is I can't seem to find a good daily balance between getting enough water and/or enough protein. I just want to get all my water AND protein in which is a daunting task all by itself let alone work, family, etc... Honestly, I'm just frustrated with the whole thing. Can someone please tell me at what point will I get like all the other veterans around here and voice the ever popular chant..."I LOVE MY SLEEVE"!

Sorry for the rant but I'm really just irritated right now!!!!

Deep breaths.  This is an adjustment. :)

Drink your protein if you have to--then you get "credit" for both protein and water.  My favorite are the premier protein ready to drink shakes from Costco, followed by chocolate Amplfied Wheybolic Extreme from GNC.  Mix it up by adding flavors.  I also liked the Healthwise fruit drinks and hot chocolates.

It will get easier.  I'm almost a year out and still have a love/hate relationship with my sleeve--until I look in a mirror and see my weirdly skinny thighs. :)  Focus on fluids and liquid proteins for now.

Thanks shrinking_sarah! I really want to do things the right way but all the talk on the blogs can make this newbie go a little bonkers. I'll try to remain calm and continue to maintain daily food/water schedule so I won't be so easily frustrated.

I'm sorry you're having so much trouble :( I am almost 6 months out and am just now finding that I can drink more. THEN I get too big for my britches and WHAM, drink too much and get nauseous. I'm with you. I hope it gets MUCH better than this :(

Thanks! At least I'm not alone in my feelings. I just have to keep working on it. *sigh*

I felt the same way, but you know I don't have to concentrate now on all the rules! So, did I adjust yep, but also I created new habits. As far as water now? If I'm really thirsty I can take a considerably sized drink or a few in a row. hang in there.

That's the biggest issue for me so far, but I'm only 4 days out. I am irritated to no end that I can't drink a glass of water to quench my thirst without feeling like I've been stabbed. I'm SO thirsty and it just doesn't go away with a sip here and there!

Hey Scribbles, sometimes I do find that the dryness in the air effects my level of thirst. We will get a handle on this one way or the other! ;-)

Being that y'all are talking about how thirsty you are, could you be dehydrated?
