I am one week away from surgery date.  On day 8 of pre-surgical full liquid diet.  I have cravings for non pre-surgical food(chicken, cheese, and bread).  I have been good and not cheated but never realized I could look at someone enjoying there food and think to myself I want to snatch that away or oh yeah eat that food it so good yeah hmmm (food porn).  I hope those thoughts go away soon I feel real awful thinking such thoughts and worry what I look like when I am thinking them.  Is this normal or am I just weird?

This is normal.  Most of us who are overweight have a food addiction.  You may have to see a psychologist who specializes in eating disorders.  It can really help.  Also read The Beck Diet Solution.  A lot of great information in that book.

The surgery only changes us physically (meaning we can't eat as much food) but we have to change ourselves mentally in order for us to not only lose the weight but keep it off.  You have to be able to get to the point where you can look at someone enjoying their food and think to yourself "I could eat that if I want to but I choose not to.  I choose to be healthy.  Being healthy and  thinner is more important to me than eating *fill in the blank*."  When you get to that point you will feel empowered that you have the strength to turn down something that has probably been running your life for quite a while.  This change doesn't happen overnight.  We are all a work in progress!!
