Yay Me!
Yesterday my GP took me off my Enalapril for high blood pressure. I have had hypertension since my mid 20's but I didn't take it seriously back then (I'm 41 now). Since having preeclampsia with my son, I have taken it seriously and have been on medication for almost 12 years. I am so happy! I haven't even had surgery yet. Seeing all of the positive changes in my health are such a motivation to see this process through!
That's wonderful Megan. I am proud of you and you should be so very proud of yourself. You are a role model for me. I am taking Zocor and hydrochlorothiazide (cholesterol meds and high bp meds). My goal is to eventually get off both of them.

That's great!
Pre-surgery I was on two different BP meds (Atenalol and Amlodipine), one water pill (hycro... blah blah, another poster was on it too), and a thyroid pill.
I am off all four, and only keep the Atenalol around in case I have a day when my BP spikes. That has happened three times since surgery, random days. Why I don't know. But I take the Atenalol for a day or two, and am fine.
I had preeclampsia with my daughter, but had full blown eclampsia with my son and he was born 3 months premature. My BP had been a problem since (he's 15 now), and am SO glad to be free of the drugs... and the copay!
Good for you!
I never even considered being able to get off of Thyroid medication. My dose has been steadily increasing and now I am taking 125 mcgs. I thought I would be on that for life. I am also taking Metformin for PCOS which I hope to be rid of soon.
