Limbs Going Numb?

I was sleeved on 12/2 and starting a few days ago, my legs and arms have been going numb extremely easily and very frequently. Immediately when I sit on the toilet, my legs start the pins and needles tingling, and when I prop my feet up on the ottoman, my legs from my knees down get the same tingling. My arms go so numb at night that I have to wake my husband up to move them to a different position because I can't move them at all and the pins and needles feeling is excruciating. Has this happened to anyone else? Does it have to do with lack of nutrition or enough water? I'm a little concerned, but I don't have my 1 month post-op appointment until after the beginning of January.

Call your surgeon on Monday.  Don't wait until your post-op appt.  Hard to say what could be causing this, but circulation issues should be addressed quickly.

Oh wow, I wasn't expecting to hear that it might be something serious. I'll call first thing tomorrow. Thanks for the replies...

I wouldn't wait until Monday to discuss it with your doctor.  I would call your PCP in the am and let them know what is going on.  It could be very serious.

Definitely call right away. Far better safe than sorry.

That said, I've had significant issues with the same thing. I learned that a B12 deficiency can cause the numbness and tingling; basically, neuropathy. I increased the amount of B12 I was taking (sublingually) and for me, that seems to have solved the issue.

However, I am not a Dr. nor qualified to give medical advice, and so soon after surgery, this could certainly be serious. Make the call :-)

Best of luck.

I also learned that excessive B12 can cause it!  I was having tingling in my fingertips, and my lab work just came back with too much B12, so my doc told me to cut back.

But definitely get it checked out - hopefully it's nothing to worry about!
