Best Protien???
Hey all! I'm on my pre op diet whi*****ludes 2-3 shakes a day and I was wondering what your favs were? My dietician requires over 20g of protein and 8g or sugar or less. I really like the gnc lean shake 25's. And I ordered the bariatric fusion shakes and can't stand the taste of them. Any suggestions?
I LOVE Syntrax powders. I used Syntrax Matrix pre op, but became lactose intolerant post op and switched to Syntrax Nectars because they are lactose (and gluten) free. I prefer Nectar's Vanilla Bean Torte. I mix it with ice cubes made out of brewed Chai tea. Just recently discovered the Strawberry Mousse and it's really good too.

I'm really enjoying the "About Time" brand shakes. They are 25g protein per scoop, with 0 carb and 0 fat. No artificial sweeteners (I am allergic to sucralose). They're sweetened with stevia, but I haven't noticed an aftertaste.
I have two flavors, the Banana and the Birthday Cake. Both are good, if you ask me. There are other flavors - Cinnamon Bun, Strawberry, Peaches and Cream, Vanilla, Mocha Mint and Chocolate. They also have unflavored (to mix with savory foods like soup). I buy it off Amazon.com and I'm a prime member so I get a little break on the price.
If you can stomach the GNC product, you'll like everything else. The GNC product is the worst.
i recommend Oh Yeah and Lean. Body products personally. They we the best when I used then. Muscle Milke Lite and Adkins Advantage are also pretty good. Many folks like the one sold at Costco but I never tried it.
my recommendation is you find the nearest Vitamin Shoppe and do your shopping there. They have the best selection and carry the ones we's considered bariactric friendly.

I have been on the Jay Robb, protien power made out of egg whites. it seems to be OK, trying another one called Plant Fusion plant protein. So far it is what I have been mixing it with that is making me sick. (I think) but both have lots of protein and no dairy or Gluten which I can't have.
Good luck, my before diet is making me sick, oh joy, can't wait to see what after diet does. :(

Rita- you need to address your allergies or intolerances with your NUT so that you can have a good plan NOW (pro-op) and afterwards.
You DO NOT want to be struggling to find things you can medically deal with (let along taste-dealing with) right after surgery...
Suggest you huddle with your NUT to get some good recommendations so that you can be successful in meeting your goals! Best of luck, I understand dietary challenges on top of surgery!
Since you like GNC try GNC's Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60. 1 scoop has 20 grams protein, less than 3 carbs and 92 calories. I've been using it for close to two years. It's my favorite. GNC is also really good about taking flavors back that you just can't stand or tolerate. I've stuck with chocolate this whole time because it's my favorite and goes well as a shake, in greek yogurt, or as a morning protein coffee.
