Gettin' that protein in, yo

I got a bunch of sample packets of pea and hemp protein at the health-food store and sucked some o' those badboys down. They're not so bad - they taste a bit like salty chocolate covered green beans. Perked my sorry butt right up, too. I was sure to pick the low-carb ones, and the ones without a bunch of xylitol or fructose in 'em, because not all shakes are made alike. Gotta read those labels. No stomach upset so far. I'll see how I feel over the next few days before I commit to a whole tub of it. That designer vegan stuff ain't cheap!

Felt so good tonight I got dressed and went for a short walk. Holy shiznits, that sure was nice. The past week, I haven't felt up to much more than shuffling around the house in my bathrobe and slippers and marathoning "Downton Abbey" like some kind of depression superhero. The Apathetic Avenger, maybe?

"Salty chocolate covered green beans" Mmmm! (NOT)

And hey! If marathoning "Downton" is wrong, I don't wanna be right! The Dowager Countess is my spirit animal

My palate is a strange and wonderful thing. It's part of the reason why I used to weigh 300 pounds! I'm like a goddamn billy goat!

Good for you.  I'll have to check those out.  I'm into my 3rd week and trying new protein powders will be on my list of things to do for awhile.  I was pretty pooped my first two weeks.  I found using little shot glasses to get in all my fluids was helpful.  I"m still struggling a bit with that.  Have you tried Doc Martin on Netflix or Amazon.  It got me through my afternoons spent sipping!

I'm marathoning "Dexter" right now, but I think I'm going to switch over to actual productive activity since I feel well enough to sit at my computer now. I've got some research I need to be doing.

I haven't had ANY trouble getting my fluids in. Protein and food, yes. My current problem seems to be that my new tummy hates anything that's too cold (like a shake) so I have to be EXTRA slow with it and warm it up in my mouth before swallowing it. Teeny sips!

Oddly enough, adding rooster sauce and/or curry to the strained cream of chicken soup didn't irritate at all and actually made me feel a bit like myself again. Oh, cast iron chili-lovin' tummy, I still have you. Just smaller.

(Your mileage may vary. I'm known in some circles as The Human Garbage Disposal. Looks like surgery's not going to change that about me.)
