Hate protein shakes!!
I wasn't, and still am not, very fond of the protein shakes. I stopped drinking them a few weeks after post op and haven't had one since. But I am able to get in my protein without them, thankfully! The ones I did find that I could stomach were the Syntrax Matrix powders. They have tons of varieties and I actually was able to drink them. A friend of mine likes the Premier Protein shakes but I just couldn't stomach them. Good Luck to you!
I am in the pre-op stage and complained to my doctor about the ****ty protein shakes I've tried--and it has been several. He told me to make my own with unflavored protein powder and almond milk, or soy. He said to make a bunch of old fashioned popcicles out of it too. Ima try it soon. Hang in there!
It's not the destination, but the glory of the ride.~
My tummy would not tolerate protein drinks post op. I think it was the sweetness. I relied heavily on chicken broth with unflavored protein powder. Warm liquids went down better for me. I also put protein powder in jello, pudding, yogurt, mashed cauliflower, basically anything I could. I was able to hit my protein numbers even the first week.
good luck,
Carol

I hate them too, even the ones other people swear by. What is working for me to get in extra protein is blending unsweetened almond milk with unflavored whey powder and fruit. The whey powder tastes like milk, but the almond milk does not get thick and with no fake sweeteners it is not so cloying. Most of those shakes taste like melted ice cream and make me gag.
Good luck, once you can eat dense protein like fish and chicken it gets much easier to get the protein in.
