Omg. I just saw my surgeon today and he's sending off for insurance approval as we speak. Reading this and hearing all the horror stories, I'm wondering if I shouldn't call my primary and my insurance and just give them a heads-up that the ball is rolling. In fact, that doesn't sound like such a bad idea...

Good luck to you! Hope you get your date soon!

It is a good idea. It's not like they would drop the ball because you followed up. But they may drop it if you don't. There's already been evidence that not all persons do what they say they will when they say they will (even with the best of intentions and the most blameless of characters!). The only person whose plans are at stake here is you.

Thanks, Heidi! My pcp has nothing to do with my surgery so she doesn't even know, but you should definitely check to see if your insurance got your paperwork.

I agree with everyone. You really have to check and double check that things are being done for you. I don't care about my surgeons insurance person, just my insurance people. Lol. I called member services and went to the pre-cert area to talk to someone. I will be calling them again Friday or Monday for an update. THEN I'll call my surgeon's insurance person or scheduler if I don't hear from them first. Lol. I'm not sure when I'll be scheduled, but I have vaca July 1st thru 8th. I could probably survive the pre-op diet that week, but don't want to have surgery before.
