I broke the rules today

I have been craving brussel sprouts for over a week. Tonight I made pork roast in the crock pot and for the rest of my family I made brussel sprouts, sliced tomato, and a potato/bean mixture. I had full intentions of eating my 2oz of protein before indulging in anything else but then I said FORGET THIS! I proceeded to eat 8 amazing sprouts and nearly a whole tomato! I'm totally giving myself a pass today too. I know I fell just a bit short of my protein goal today but I'm not going to stress one bit about it. I'm a rule breaker today and it tasted amazing!

You know what you did isn't what you need to do, but let's face it, you were eating veggies. Tomatoes are a little carby, but this isn't cake!

a serious question - if this was like a craving, are you keeping up with all your vitamins?

That's a great question actually. I am keeping up with my vitamins, however I have iron deficiency anemia and often my potassium is a little low when I have labs done. I may have been craving the iron and potassium in the sprouts and hadn't even thought of that!

I saw my dietician last week and she said to look at my food/protein intake over a span of a week at a time. She said if I fall a little short one day, it can be made up the next. She said were talking averages over a week. I admire you for craving Brussel sprouts, as I've been craving chocolate!!!!

I'm very thankful I've never really had much of a sweet tooth. My problem was always chips and soda. I went through McDonalds for my son and his friend the other day and it took all my strength to not order the biggest fountain coke they could fit through my car window lol.

Eating veggies is healthy!  Just add a scoop of protein to one or your drinks, or have a serving of yogurt with a scoop of protein powder mixed in.  You can make your numbers and have the food you enjoy. (not so much when you crave ice cream or cake- but for now you are doing great.)
