Big NSV for me

I just ran a mile, in under 14 minutes, yanking a dog the whole way, outside, at noon, in 90 degree weather! I'm super psyched. If I hadn't been so pissed off at my goose chasing pup I could have kept going. But I was out there, in the first place, because I'm working nights, family is out of town, so he's spending more time crated than he's used to. WOKE UP EARLY to drive him to the trails to run. haha

Needless to say, in spite of the extra effort of dragging him along, I feel great that I did this. My first 5K isn't slated until October 25 so I should be golden on running it and running it at a pace I'm happy with. And THIS is one of the major reasons I had this surgery. Aside from health and family lifestyle improvements, I just missed running so darn much.

Congrats!! What a great accomplishment. My 5k is a week before yours. EEK. There's no way I could run a mile in 14 minutes right now.

Honestly, with my treadmill pace, I didn't think I'd do it either. I think it's SO much easier to run outside than on a treadmill. But the treadmill is SO much easier to fit into my schedule.

I'm eager to go back out, sans dog, after this night shift stint is up and see what I can do in the cool of the day/evening.

I'm hoping to start running in the real world starting in September. At least once a week to be prepared for my race. It is way too hot and humid to run outside right now and I do not have the dedication my partner does to wake up at 5:30 in the morning to run before things get bad :P

Just a perk of that body temp issue post op. Cold all the time...gives me opportunity to run any time of the day! haha

Wooooo hoooooo Tricia that's awesome... I agree running outside is much easier then the treadmill I won't even use that now I figure I'll wait till winter ... I'm now where near that but I'm enjoying it ... my first 5k is on 10/18 it's the color run I'm so excited...:-)
