Has anyone tried protein shots?

Since I'm having a hard time getting all the protein in my nutritionist recommended protein shots.  But, my friend who was sleeved two years ago said she had heard that protein shots aren't quality protein and her surgeon and NUT told her to stay away from them.  I was just wondering if anyone else had an opinion.  Thanks!

If they're whey protein isolate, they're probably fine.  A lot of the ones I've seen are collagen which isn't super digestible.

Are you talking about something like Proteinex?? I actually had a friend who is a nutritionist give me a few samples to try. I tried it about a month ago. I did not like it. It tasted nasty (cherry) and had an oily texture (kinda like popping a fish oil pill in your mouth). Plus it burned my stomach for a few minutes. I haven't been brave enough to try the other one she gave me (lemon lime).

Sarah - you should focus your protein on 100% whey protein isolate because it's the most easily digestible by our tiny little stomachs.  I'm going to post a link to someone from these boards who wrote a very good post on this a couple years ago.    Please read and be aware - you want HIGH quality protein in your stomach, not the crap they are selling in these protein shots.

I have been wondering about these.  Basically I want to look at the primary protien (1st listed) to be whey isolate and to be wary of collegen isolate.  Thank you!

My NUT had them in with her box of protein that we are able to have. She said it's better mixed with some water though. Unfortunately I'm one of the unlucky ones that very allergic to any kinds of whey so I have not tried them. Whey makes me itchy, sneezy, and makes my throat close up. I use vegan or soy proteins instead.
