Popcorn
My doctor didn't specify if I could eat popcorn or not. He did say to avoid regular corn. My mom, who had RNY, is not supposed to eat it per her doctor's instructions. Have any of you sleevers tried popcorn? If so, did it go down oK? Is there a reason why we shouldn't eat it? I know it's not protein and shouldn't make it a part of my daily snacks but just curious.
I have eaten it a few times in the last month. But very little, maybe a cup each time , but I avoid because of calories and carbs.

I've eaten popcorn on a few occassions without any issues, but never during my initial weight loss period. The few times I've had it, I always made sure it was in moderation and well chewed (just in case). It's too easy to just chow down on it and I wanted to make sure I wasn't overloading the sleeve.
Yes, it's empty calories, especially the movie versions. But air popped versions are better snack options than a lot of other stuff. Sometimes you just need a change even if it's not the best option for you. Also, and don't use this as an excsue to go to town with it but, popcorn takes longer to digest and can level out insulin spikes helping cut hunger pains you might otherwise get.

I've eaten it in the form of pop corners chips. I'll be eating one amazing ear of corn on the cob during corn season at some point. I haven't tried actual pop corn because I haven't wanted it enough yet.

I eat it. I didn't start though until the stomach had ample, ample time to heal. Every time I eat it, I gain a lot of water weight so be warned the scale goes a little crazy. It comes off as fast as it goes on though. I can attest to it being a total slider food though... I can eat it just as much and just as fast as I did prior to surgery. I have to stick to the preportioned Skinny Pop bags or I get into trouble quickly. I also find that for some reason if it can spur the bowels along when other food options are not getting the job done. Avoid popcorn bought at the movies- terribly high in calories compared to the better stuff made at home.
