Slow loss around 4-5 months?

So I'm about 4.5 months out, down 55 pounds but weight loss has really slowed the last 6 weeks or so- not a complete stall but 1/2 pound, maybe 1 pound per week. I called my NUT to discuss and she recommended increasing my calories. I'm still eating fairly basic stuff- yogurt with protein granola every morning, usually tuna, chicken, haddock, steak for lunch and dinner, not much room for any veggies or fruit. Protein 60-70 grams, calories around 600-800, carbs between 20 and 50. 64 ounces of water. Walking 30 minutes 3-4 times per week. My plan doesn't call for limiting calories or carbs but I choose to limit them myself. My NUT said I need to increase my calories, carbs and variety of foods. Add crackers or pita when having tuna, egg with a slice of wheat toast, add some veggies with my haddock, etc. I'm feeling confused and a bit frustrated- I'm not expecting to lose tons each week but I feel like 1-2 pounds/week is reasonable. It's also not like I'm stalling for a while and then dropping a lot of weight. Any ideas or thoughts- increase food and variety, stay the course and hope the loss picks up? I'm still about 40 pounds from my goal.

Thanks!!

I'd increase water, exercise, and protein before I added carbs and calories.  Other than that I'd stay the course.

Ignore the NUT.  Granola isn't really a good weight loss food, it's laced with grain and sugar and will derail weight loss.  The same is true for crackers, pitas, and toast.

Eliminate all sugar and grains from your daily diet, and then consider boosting calories for items without sugar or grains.  You don't get fat eating fats, so mix them in.

If you still have issues, and you have any dairy or nuts in your diet, tinker with eliminating those until you find your sweet spot.

Beyond that, give it 30 days to set in.  After that you'll be rolling again.

Remember to measure your body and use that for guidance.  The scale does not tell all.

Hi, Jo. I got the same message from my nutritionist when I stalled for two weeks: up my carb and calorie intake by eating more fruits and veggies. She suggested I add a veggie-only snack or two every day. I did this (my carb intake averages around 65g/day, whi*****ludes about 35 for vitamins and supplements), and my stall ended. I'm now losing about 2 pounds a week at 5.5 months out.

I would love to be losing more, but I am generally ok with this level so long as it doesn't fall lower. If that happens, I would definitely try restricting carbs again, although really that would mean finding carb-free vitamins and supplements more than cutting the little veggies and fruit that I'm eating.

So I would, rather than going for crackers or pita, or anything else of that nature (not sure what's in your protein granola), add spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, cukes, onion, etc. to your diet, together with berries and melon, and see if that helps.

Oh, I am also (like you) staying under 800 calories a day.

Thanks for the insight- I can always turn here when I am feeling lost :) I have just been able to increase my protein to 70 grams per day in the last 2-3 weeks. I would not be able to reach that without dairy. I can't tolerate the protein shakes, so all of my protein comes directly from food. I struggle to meet the 70 grams of protein and 64 ounces of water, I'm hoping it gets easier as time passes.
