As someone who eats approx 5 grams of carbs a day, I can tell you I have puhhhhlenty of energy and am not run down in the least. :) In the absence of carbs, the body runs on ketones which it gets from fat.

But yeah, that nutritionist sounds like a liar wielding scare tactics or majorly misinformed.

Are you sure it is 4g per day? Ours was 4g per thing we were eating/serving. And  we were taught to read labels to be sure sugar was not one of the fist four ingredients (simple sugars can also be listed as sucrose, glucose, fructose, high-fructose corn syrup, honey, agave syrup, fruit juice concentrates, invert sugar, cane sweetener, maltose, malt syrup, dextrose and dehydrated cane juice). Like you cannot eat yogurt that has 12g of sugar per serving. Were you told to eat 6 times per day?. Almost everything has 1g of sugar. Eating 4-6 times per day would darn near be impossible.

She clarified that I should not be eating to much sugar. She says she did not say that it expands your stomach when I called her out on it but my husband and I found the paper where she clearly put it under ingredients that can expand your stomach.  Either way I am getting a new NUT.

Sugar does not expand your stomach in anyway whatsoever.

However, it will derail you at every turn and is embedded in everything.  Treat sugar like heroin because it is.

If you want a long healthy life, you must reduce insulin to the lowest level possible and keep it there.  Sugar and grains will work against that.  Insulin is the smoking gun that drives fat into cells.  By keeping it low, you reverse the situation.

The whole cycle is well explained on YouTube by Gary Taubes who wrote the book on the subject.
