And feeling nervous! My boyfriend and I go to his grandmas retirement living facility and they do an amazing 5 star thanksgiving buffet for the residents and there families it's amazing. This year however will be different since I'm sleeved and won't eat everything in sight. They usually do a turkey or prime rib as far as proteins go and of course all the great sides my plan is to have a little bit of turkey and a little bit of the other I want to avoid breads, wheats and grains. How did you make it through your first thanksgiving? I'm 2 months post op and haven't splurged at all don't wanna start now!

My surgery is on the Monday before Thanksgiving.  I'm really hoping I can, at least, make it to my parents house this year.  Even if I AM on just liquids.  **praying**

My plan for Thanksgiving is to measure out my three ounces of protein (turkey, dark meat) and then have a single bite of the sides I want to eat - mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and stuffing.  I feel very content with this plan.  :)

I like Gwen's plan Turkey first and then a tad of mashed po's & butternut squash. I'm cooking so I feel good about that as I know what is in each dish.

I am also cooking!  Which does make it easier since I know exactly what I've used for everything.

And, thankfully, at Christmas my mom includes me in all the meal planning and cooking, so I maintain some level of control at that holiday as well!

By Thanksgiving I will be enjoying week 17. I am going to have my scale with me. I will measure my protein and eat that first. Then a green veggie. If there is room, a bite of mac and cheese. I do plan to eat a sliver of the cake I am making. The beverage of choice will be water.

It's just another day.....

If your in WL, just another day in WL.... zero need to think it's special, enjoy the "event".

If your in maintenance, just another day in maintenance...... proceed as normal.

If you "think" the day is any different and you "think" Thanksgiving is connected to some kind of "food reward"..... that's the issue you need to work on.

I agree. I know for everyone else it's a special day, but for me I go just to be around his family. I love them and enjoy the gathering. I used to enjoy the food, but this year it will be different and I intend to make my decisions based on my plan to lose more weight. I told myself a few weeks ago that instead of saying I can't have something I say I shouldn't have whatever that something is and that's what I plan on using for the rest of my life. I have no intentions of cheating I haven't cheated yet I haven't had anything that wasn't in my plan like cookies, cake, and junk. I've been tested, but I always come out on top. When I get to my goal weight then I feel that it's an appropriate time to try little indulgences, but for now I'm gonna stick to my plan to the T because I plan to try and be in a swimsuit and look great by next summer!
