My surgery is scheduled for Jan 2015 n I'm at a cross road with trying to fit the liquid vitamins in my budget..

I went through all that too.  And then I took one dose and switched to a gummy multi.  The liquid is not necessary.  I also did the same thing with calcium.  The nurse practitioner then told me (at the hospital after surgery) not to take calcium or vitamins until I was 7-10 days out.  Check with your dr.

Gummi vitamins are crap. They are missing many things entirely, and have much less of others. Gummi calcium is worthless, it has calcium that is not absorbed after surgery. It's barely absorbed by those without WLS. Stick with calcium citrate.

Liquid vitamins are not necessary. There are a lot of chewable ADULT multivitamins out there, and chewable calcium citrate. But most people can start taking tablets right away without resorting to liquids or chewables.

The current ASMBS guidelines want us to take a chewable for the first 3-6 months.

I'd be more concerned with finding a complete liquid multi, it's a challenge!  However, there is a person here who uses Women's Ultra Mega Active GNC and it's got pretty solid stats for a liquid.

So.. if you truly need a liquid multi (and the ASMBS just recommends that we do chewable for the first 3-6 months) then I'd check this liquid out at GNC.  You'll still need iron, calcium CITRATE, etc.. but it'll do the job for the first few months of the multi.

I was told to start taking my chewable multi after coming home from the hospital. The surgeon wanted me on vitamins ASAP. I also heard that gummies aren't a very reliable source of multi.

Hi there,

i found some great chewables at Sprouts - all plant based.  But I found I like the liquid better.  They are expensive. I would be happy to mail you the chewable ones for you to have the first month post-op if you'd like.  I just don't want to waste them.  If you're interested my email is [email protected].
