Struggling to stop losing weight.

I hate to bring this up but I need to stop losing weight. I have lost 20 lbs this month. I really struggle to eat enough. I don't get sick or anything I just have no desire to eat and I get full after just a couple ounces. My current calorie intake barely exceeds 700 (my weight loss level) and today was only 460.

Anyone had this issue?

20 pounds in a month as far out as you are and at goal doesn't sound right to me. I would seriously consider talking to my surgeon or PCP to see if there is an underlying cause for the lack of appetite or the fullness with very little food.

There are many ways to up calories without adding volume that are perfectly healthy. ADD GOOD, HEALTHY FATS TO YOUR MEALS. Try adding olive oil, grass fed or pastured raised butter, whole fat cheeses, whole milk and full fat (4%) yogurts, cream in your coffee, nuts, peanut butter, almond butter.

Also, if you're getting only 500ish calories in like today, add a protein shake or two so you are getting adequate protein. You don't want to be losing muscle while you are figuring this out.

Did you ever imagine when you were 500+ pounds you'd be worried about stopping losing weight? What you have done is just absolutely incredible. Kudos to you! Just amazing!

I know right. Just blows me away and feels so much like a first person problem. I have switched to full fat milk in my lattes (make them at home) and have also been eating more peanut butter. I got in about 900 calories yesterday but still lost some weight this week.

So far 21 lbs in a month

and

5lbs in a week.

I also made an appointment with my PCP who is pulling blood work as well and I talked to my psychiatrist about it.

It sounds like you may have a stricture or some other obstruction in your sleeve, as this definitely isn't usual. It may have been helpful in getting all the weight off, (great job on that, BTW,) but enough is enough! Do check in with your surgeon (or a different one if you are so inclined) and get it looked into. With the rapid increase in popularity of the sleeve, many of the bariatric surgeons out there aren't as far up the learning curve on making sleeves as we would like, and shape issues do occur. If that is the case, you may want to look into a second opinion from a sleeve specialist.

As Kairk suggests, adding more fat is a good way to boost calories, and at the risk of establishing bad habits, one can resort to drinking more calories (protein shakes with whole milk preferred or SBUX junk, of course!)

Good luck on finding a solution to this - hopefully the problem will be apparent with some basic imaging tests.

You have received great advice already - pretty much what I would have said to do. I just wanted to wish you luck in getting it all figured out and congratulate you on your success!

Get to your doctor and make sure it's nothing physically wrong.

Otherwise, you need to increase your calories.  Drop any low-fat, no-fat food (which is sounds like you're already doing).  Increase nuts and nut butters, avocado, leave the skin on your chicken.  Look into the protein shakes that are used for weight gain.  I don't know how far underweight you are, but going too extreme in any direction is unhealthy.

I have a similar problem, I get really creeped out when I go dipping into the 120's because I can tell on my neck and I so hate how ghostly I look. My go to high calorie good to eat stuff is peanut butter and peanuts. I've made it a habit of having a couple of handfuls of peanuts daily and I spread peanut butter on a graham cracker along with a tad of jam or jelly. I still do 2% milk but I literally have maybe half an ounce daily. e.e.... I constantly have to remind myself that I need to eat more. I aim for 1200 calories daily but end up around 800-900 if I'm lucky.

I do hope that you find out why you lost so much weight though. Right now I'm also below what I like and I'm having my yearly physical in a few days. Let's see if I'm doing ok.

It's weird to go from having the problem of obesity to the complete opposite.

See your doctor to see if there is anything physically wrong. If you have developed an eating disorder, you should see a therapist. If nothing is wrong physically or mentally, you have to eat more often. Make an eating schedule and stick to it.

I am doing both. I am seeing my PCP on Tuesday and my psychiatrist was so worried about it she called my therapist and we talked about it in yesterday's session. So I got plenty of people looking after me on both the mental and physical part.
