Exercise and eating

So, since I'm really new at this exercise thing, I have a question.  When is the best time to eat--before or after exercising?  My plan to make myself do the exercise is to get it in around my meals--3x a day, 10 mins each (adding time as I get more strength).

Should I eat before for fuel?  Or wait until after?  So confused lol

It depends?

Ideally, I exercise fasted and then eat afterward.  But sometimes this doesn't work for scheduling reasons.  What kind of exercise will you be doing?

For now, aerobic exercising, walking, recumbent bike.  Later on I'll add some strength training with weights.

I would recommend exercising fasted, then try to get protein into your body within 30 minutes.  Remember to hydrate and stretch.

Sounds good.  That has been my inclination, but wasn't sure.  Thanks for the advice!!

I exercise fasted. Let your body burn fat for fuel.

Do it after. Just drink a lot of water before. You will feel far away more energetic then eating before workout

Unless you are exercising hard enough to literally enter the olympics, it doesn't matter much. The most important thing is that you don't eat extra. Exercise makes people hungry, and they eat more because of that. I can't emphasize strongly enough, don't eat more, unless you want to slow or stop your weight loss.

If you are working hard enough, be prepared for a good stall. Hard exercise damages muscles, and your body uses lots of extra water to repair them. Overall, this is a good thing, and it's exactly how it is supposed to work. You will still be burning fat, but the scale will not budge for a while. Just be prepared.

You'll lose weight a lot faster if you add in some resistance training (light weight lifting, or resistance bands). Anaerobic exercise has a lot of benefits, but the largest benefit is that it keeps burning calories a lot longer than aerobic exercise.

PS I eat before I go to work out or in the middle of my work out, because I find that I get winded in the middle of my workout if I don't. I also eat afterwards, but my workouts usually last 1 to 1 1/2 hours- at least 1 hour of weight lifting and 20 to 30 minutes of walking .
