When I started my journey to being healthy I was on OH and other sites thinking one day soon I am going to be healthy.
I would read post after post of success stories and would read how some folks would do anything for cosmetic surgery and BAM they did they blogged and would write about products all in the name of MONEY. Some of these folks have made big time money..Im happy for them but it makes me think. Instead of finding a solution for a problem have they lost their eye on the prize? The prize being healthy? Some folks forget that addiction can be about anything. From food to sex to having a large bank account...Just saying remember where you came from and where you are.

I am not sure I understand what you are trying to say.

I had WLS and got to my goal weight and reached a healthy weight and lifestyle.

I have had plastic surgery and I look great and I feel good, healthy and fit.

I know where I came from, I know where I am.

I know that this is better than that ever was and that I stay accountable so I never go back there.

I have not lost or taken my eyes off the "prize". My prize is looking good, feeling good and having the energy to live my life to the fullest.

I would like to try the large bank account.  Thanks!

 I get what you are saying. I've seen people that try and turn support groups into infomercials for the surgeon instead of being a place for patients to share. I've seen some of the other things you have mentioned, and I don't think anyone should be offended. This is an open forum to share our opinions and feelings. I started coming here for support because I was not allowed to share my thoughts/feelings at support group because I was "scaring the newbies" when I tried to talk about all the physical problems I was having post surgery. I thank you for your thoughts :)

I am refering to folks who before WLS didnt work and asked for hand outs then found they could promote products and use that to get what they wanted BUT during that time they lost who they were and where they came from.
I watched a beautiful young lady go from someone I was proud to claim a friend lose weight and became a total arse. She thought the world OWED her, she would make rude and ugly comments to obesed people forgetting that use to be her. Then there have been others...

Jules we discussed this..lol. I am not allowed to attend support group meetings Unless I just sit there and keep my mouth shut. Not something I can do. I want the world to know what happens if the surgery goes wrong...

I see your point - but not all plastic surgery is cosmetic surgery.

I needed reconstruction after losing only 134 pounds because the excess skin was causing muscle and joint problems. I was fortunate that, after a lot of documentation from a variety of medical specialists, my insurance covered it all.

If you are saying there's a right way and a wrong way to get your needs met, you have my full agreement!

My dear friend I so afree not all surgery is cosmetic! Mine sure wasnt! I had skin hanging down to almost my knees!  I suffered from rashes, gaulding, infections and as u can imagine odor. I used medical creams powders and when MRSA decided it wanted to be with the party I had no other decision but medical skin removal.
There is a right way to get needed surgery and a wrong way!
I wish I could have waited till I had lost all my weight but I couldnt.
