Hi all!

It's been awhile since I posted here, but I am around. Tomorrow is my 6 year surgiversary. I still remember laying in bed at night and feeling my heart pounding in my head, suffocating. I could feel my life ebbing away. I only had years left to live. And today? Today I am bounding up and down the stairs, and I still have the same crazy smile on my face when I get to the top and I am not out of breath and nothing hurts!!

I could add so much, but let me say these things:

1. Do not go this alone. This is a journey to be taken with those who understand and care about you

2. When it all seems too much and you cannot take that next step on the treadmill, or put that cookie back-DO IT ANYWAY. Just around that challenging corner is another moment of joy and life.

3. Be your own advocate. This is critical. There is so much information and research being done to better understand how our bodies and minds work post surgery-if you don't actively look for it, you may fall behind. Do NOT expect your doctor or surgeon to tell you everything.

4. Take your supplements and get your protein in. Period. End of.

5. DO NOT GIVE UP EVER.

6. Live your life-it's a gift.

I am on my way to Alaska for a few weeks to see my family, my son and grand baby! Again-it's all an amazing gift.

Thanks and I will be around!

Peace,

T

Hi Miss Redd: Congrats on doing so well!!! You look terrific!! Also thanks for the encouraging words to others like myself.  I am 4 1/2 years out from RNY and lost 206# but sadly have put on almost 65#! Ugh! I don't know why really except that I started to eat and drink together and food started tasting REAL good again!!!

I know what I need to do however it doesn't quite come off like it did in the beginning!! LOL! In reading your post, I see that Ineed to jack myself up and get back on track again so that I, too can help others who may need it.  The surgery is a wonderful tool and I am grateful I did use it-I know it saved my life.  I guess we all just get "comfortable" some times and forget  that everything needs work and effort! Take care!!!  Molly P (Mary)
