Have a date - Now I am eating my brains out.

I was self-pay, so my time between 'decision' and 'incision' was short -- about 10 weeks because I had some family commitments I could not change.
I actually started to diet before my surgery-- and eat like a 'post-op' -- stop the carbonation, eat off of small plates with small utensils, no drinking while eating, etc.
I did plan a 'last supper' for 2 nights before surgery --- and went out with my husband to a favorite restaurant.
The ironic part is that 4 weeks after surgery, we went back to the same restaurant and I ordered the same exact meal -- and was able to eat it -- just 1/4 of it --
My point is that there is very little you are eating now (and will eat between now and surgery) that you will 'never eat again' --- so, take it easy with the whole 'last supper' idea ---- you don't want to put yourself in a situation where you have an extra 20 or 30 pounds to lose because you over-did it in the 2 months before surgery (I KNOW I could gain 10 - 15 pounds a month if I was eating out with abandon).
Perhaps make a decision to eat out a few times a week ---- and eat 1/2 of what you are served and don't take the remainder home -- or share with someone else.
Normally, the "last supper syndrome" involves one meal with friends or family. 8 weeks of last meals isn't normally the idea behind this issue. You need to be limiting or removing specific foods from your diet now--those foods your doc says you should not eat. Bet your doc won't be happy about your "plan" either. DAVE

Well you haven't had surgery yet and you still have a big old stomach that gets hungry and wants to be filled up. Picture a 2 liter bottle of soda and a shot glass sitting on the counter. Right now your stomach is the soda bottle. After surgery it will be the shot glass. After surgery your tiny stomach will be full and happy with a tiny amount of food. Now it needs lots of food to be full. Try to fill up on lots of salad and vegetables, but don't be hard on yourself because you do not want to starve on tiny amounts of food.
You will eventually eat any food that you want. There is no last meal.
congrats and good news is its doubtful you wont be able to have those foods again. There isnt much I absolutely cant eat now, though there are plenty of foods that I dont indulge in but once in a blue moon...the whole changing your habits thing :)
I totally did the last meal thing, though I had to lose 10% of my weight preop so was careful to keep it somewhat in check LOL
