New and CONFUSED...

Hi!

I have a day scheduled but I am thinking to change it.. I have read so many posts that ppl say they are on the "liquid" diet right before surger, I have been placed on a 1,000 cal. a day diet. Is there a difference and should I only be doing liquids?

I will call tomorrow and ask the doctor's office, but I would also like to hear from anyone willing to share. Thank you in advance for your help!

Some doctors require pre-op diets, some do not.

Some require liquids only, some require restricted calories, ---- follow YOUR doctor's instructions to the very best of your ability and I am sure that you will be fine.

I did nil by mouth from midnight before surgery.   Follow your surgeon's instructions and don't worry about what everyone else does ...

It's the doc's preference.  My surgeon required no pre-op diet at all.

You should do what your doctor recommends for you.  If he doesn't feel you need a liquid diet, then why would you want to do one?

My surgeon didn't require a liquid diet. He had me limit calories to 1200 (and eating healthy) three weeks prior to surgery.

I am one of those on a ten day liquid diet.  I am doing this because my doctor requires it. Do what your doctor says. All of us are different, all doctors are different. Best wishes on your upcoming surgery. See you on the losers bench
