Horseback riding??
I don't know. I'd check with your doc.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
My doc told me only walking for 6 weeks. I've done horse back riding in the past, and my memory of it says "too physical" considering my doc won't even let me elliptical for 6 weeks!
Sadly, the problem with asking docs specific questions about what you can and can't do might not always be useful. My own doc thinks I'll be able to sing with no trouble two weeks after surgery... I don't think he has a clue about how much singers use their abdominal muscles :P

I honestly would wait a good 8 weeks. I know when I had the crapband done 10 years ago I was told to wait 4-6 weeks before riding again and that was just for walking. I am hoping to get the band out and a revision of some sort as I really want to ride again. I would suggest a mounting block of some sort also even when your thin. It puts less stress on the horses back and saddle.
