protein pudding recommendations?

VSG on 06/12/13

Hey, y'all - My aunt has asked me to locate some good-tasting high-protein pudding options for my grandmother. She is 86 and a dialysis patient. She's wasting away. Carbs and fat and calories are of little concern at this point, so it's a little outside of our typical low carb conversations, but does anyone have recommendations?

Thanks,
Laurie

Someone told me that GNC now sells premade protein pudding, but I haven't seen it myself.

After surgery I made my own, just adding chocolate protein powder to fat free sugar free instant pudding. But you could use the high test pudding mix too.

It doesn't keep as well as regular pudding. After a day or two it wants to separate a little, but other than that it's yummy, with lots of protein.

Thanks! I tried to make some with almond milk and jello SF instant pudding mix. Epic fail. It never set up. It was around the holidays so I added cinnamon and nutmeg and cloves to it and pretended it was egg nog.

I forget exactly what it is, but it needs regular milk, even lowfat, for the pudding to set up. I tried it with jus****er once, and it was no go. If they need the nutrition, just use whole milk, it will harden.

You can experiment with the amount of protein. I think I used two scopps in one box of pudding mix. If you use too much it will get too thick and dry. But less and it will be seamless..

There's Power Pak Pudding available at Vitamin Shoppe and GNC or online.

Have you tried rice pudding? The homemade stuff, with eggs and cream and real sugar.  I find (or found, before VSG) that rice pudding went down very well when my stomach was upset, whereas chocolate can be irritating, and it's a slider so she'll probably be able to eat more of it.  Also, it tastes good.
