EVERYTHING tastes SWEET!

Is this for real?? I feel like I had a taste bud operation along with my VSG! hahahaha! Everything, I mean EVERYTHING, has an overwhelmingly sweet taste. I'm 6 days out from surgery, and I've read a few things on here about this happening to other people in the early stages, sooooo

when does it get fixed??

I was never a big sweets eater before (just a BIG eater of everything else in sight!) so this is killing me! The jello in the hospital was gag-worthy. Is this my body's way of trying to help? You know, "Congratulations for cutting out half of your stomach, we're going to make your beef broth taste like ice cream!"

I only had to do clear liquids for 3 days .. And just put up with it.

Once I was cleared for full liquids, I made cream of chicken soup and added some hot sauce .. Just to get rid of the sickly-sweet taste of the protein stuff.

I also mixed my chocolate protein shake with some decaf coffee which cut down on the sweet, fake taste.

Hang in there, it gets better as you are allowed to add more savory food choices.

Your taste buds are heightened. They will adjust.

“Let someone love you just the way you are – as flawed as you might be, as unattractive as you sometimes feel, and as unaccomplished as you think you are. To believe that you must hide all the parts of you that are broken, out of fear that someone else is incapable of loving what is less than perfect, is to believe that sunlight is incapable of entering a broken window and illuminating a dark room.”― Marc Hack
