Revised Goals

When I started this process I wanted to lose 120 lbs.  Currently I'm 12 away from that goal and still have a lot of belly fat, so I'm not sure 12 more is going to take care of that.  Then I looked at where I started and I'd really like to lose half my body weight from start, which is 132 lbs.

As you approach your selected goal weight do you just know you are where you want to be?

TIA,

amy

I have asked the same questions.  I started at 344 lbs.  The Cleveland Clinic's goal (what they consider success) was 205 pounds.  I knew that I wouldn't be satisfied with that weight, so I chose 180.  205 came and went.  180 came and went.  I am now at about 169.  I want to weigh 138 lbs.  Unreasonable?  I am not sure.

I changed my goals.  My target weight  was 95 below my starting weight but that seemed an unsatisfactory number so I set a goal of 100. When I got to the 100, I decided to keep on going and lost another 10.  I then decided to keep going! But at that point my husband showed me a video of me in a swimming pool with my grandson and I looked ten years older than my actual age and I looked ill.

So I put the final 10lbs back on, deliberately. I stayed there for several years but pounds crept back on. And it turns out that that 95 was what I shouid have stuck with! Looks good, feels good and I can stay there!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Thank you! I see my surgeon today for the 6 month follow up and plan on asking him his thoughts. Hoping I'll know it when I get there.

I thought if I could just get to 150 that it would be "success", even if it still wasn't in the healthy BMI range.  Once I dropped below 150 I really wanted to get to a healthy BMI.  I got to the top end of the healthy BMI range and have stuck there for a year.  Now I'd like to get down a few more pounds before I have plastic surgery in 2015.  We'll see what happens...

Just finished with my surgeon and he says 16-21 more lbs, which puts me at the higher end of a healthy BMI. After losing 108, even 21 more seems so easy! The goal is near and I'm so excited! I figured I'll get to 135-140 and maintain then decide if I want to lose anymore.

I find that my goal has changed from the day I had my sleeve done as well. When I got to my original goal weight I thought "yep made it" then I kept losing. Lol I was worried about looking too skinny ya know so at my next appt I spoke to my surgeon about it, he says that my body will stop losing when it's ready. So i just let my body do its thing. The weight I am now i think is where I will like to stay. It's 20lb below what my original goal was but I feel awesome! I think most anyone's goals are reachable. If you're not there reevaluate your food choices and up the exercise you will make it ;-)

I like the way I feel and how I look at my goal weight. And (except for the holidays), it is pretty easy for me to maintain here. I would honestly love to lose another 10, but I am 48 and my face looks older when I get any thinner.

You may not necessarily lose your belly fat if you lose more weight. If it is the only area that bothers you, you may want to look into plastic surgery.
