Hello All,

Did you enjoy Thanksgiving?  Are you ready for the holiday season?  This will be my first year ever not celebrating with any traditional food and it's going to be strange and exciting all at the same time.

I had VSG on 11/27/15 (yep, the day after Thanksgiving) with Dr. Curiel in Tijuana, Mexico.  It was a wonderful experience, no problems whatsoever, and I'm grateful that I was able to have the surgery by the end of 2015.  This journey started in January of 2015 as I took the traditional insurance route through the PCP, surgeon, nutritionist, psych, etc.  And everything was going well until I had to switch insurances and the new insurance wouldn't cover VSG.  Mexico became my option.  I found financing and a reputable medical tourism company to work with and am extremely happy with the experience.  I worked with A Lighter Me and I have to say that the staff and doctors are excellent.  I have spent a lot of time in and out of different hospitals in Ohio and Arizona and I must say that the medical care I received in Mexico was better than some of the care I've gotten in the United States.

I don't have to go back to wor****il 12/21 so I am going to take this holiday time to heal, relax, and decorate the house.  The closest thing to traditional holiday food I will come to this year is maybe a pumpkin protein shake or an eggnog protein shake.  I'm going to miss not eating hot latkes with sour cream and applesauce this year but will be able to enjoy one or two next year.

May you all be blessed this holiday season!

Good for you for making a plan and following through. Too many people here without insurance coverage just give up and would rather just sit around feeling sorry for themselves, which is so sad to me. You are proof that where there is a will there is a way.

Happy healing!!

Congratulations!  I'm happy to hear that it went well.  I had my sleeve a few days before Thanksgiving here in Ohio and couldn't be happier with the care I received.  I'm joining that loser's bench right along with you and happy to meet you.  I wish you the best of luck on the rest of your journey.  :)

You have a wonderful holiday as well Modest Phoenix.
