How long was your journey?

Hi everyone. I have been passively reading this forum for quite a while and thought it was time for me to jump in. I live in the GTA and I received a referral from my doctor in January 2016. I had my orientation in May, then the SW near the end of July. I have a nurse practitioner appointment on October 6 and nutrition class October 26. I imagine that I will need to have more appointments after that before I ever get to meet a surgeon. Does this seem like a longer than normal journey to anyone, or is it fairly typical for Toronto? It feels like I see so many of you talking about your upcoming surgeries and then I see in your signature lines that your referrals were after mine. Is this a bad sign for me that I will not be eligible for surgery?

The entire process goes quite a bit more slowly in Canada than it does with private insurance in the USA.

I attended my first seminar in August and had surgery in December, which is a pretty normal American timeline.

If you check on the Ontario forum, you'll probably see some similar timelines to yours:

Here in New Brunswick (Canada), the wait between referral and surgery is anywhere between 2 and 6 years depending on the doctor. So the wait in Ontario seems much better
