Powders, Vitamins, etc. in your carry-on luggage- Any Problems?

I need to pack a week's worth of protein powder packets, bars, vitamins, etc., and don't want to check my bag unless I must.

I've kinda decided that I will switch from chewable to regular vitamins cuz chewable are so bulky (I'll be 2 mos. Post-op), plus my usual meds (lots!)... And I don't know how many protein packets I want to bring. I've located places that sell drinks like Muscle Milk near my hotel...

Any tips? It's Manhattan, so food is $$, and I won't have a fridge for the first half of the trip.

Thanks!!

From what I know when I booked travel, as long as the products are in their original packaging you should have no problems.

I travel a fair bit (including international travel to not-the-most-common destinations), and I very rarely keep meds in their bottles.

And man o Man, these chewable vitamins I have are in giant bottles! The vitamin bottles alone are as big as my purse! :)

I haven't counted them all up, but I think my meds plus vitamins will equal 8-10 different kinds of pills. Yikes! So many...

The best way to find out would be to call the airline you're booked with or the TSA and ask. Then you'll know for sure.

The TSA has an easy way to check this kind of thing.

From their website: "...simply snap a picture or send a question to AskTSA on Facebook Messenger or Twitter. We look forward to answering your questions, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET weekdays and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekends/holidays."

At 2 months out, you won't be eating much.

NYC is not that expensive if you know where to eat. There are good quality chinese food places in almost every neighborhood that would be willing to steam chicken and veggies for you. Diners have soup and salads for under 10 dollars. Breakfast is SUPER cheap.

Just don't eat in the tourist areas (you may have to walk a block or two) out of popular areas. Buy bottled water and stacks at a drug store and bring it back to your hotel, and you will be fine.

I travel A LOT during football season with my husband. I carry a lot of medication with me as well as a water bottle with me at ALL times. I have never had a problem with my water bottle only having ice in it (hey it's a solid) without the liquid nor problems with my medicine bottles.

I just did a trip to Mexico with a carry on. I just counted out the exact number of vitamins that I needed and put them in the smallest Tupperware that they would fit into. Had no problem going through security. I also had various snacks, cans of nuts, protein bars, Tupperware containers of other things. As long as there is no liquid I don't think they'll bother you.

Over 100 lbs lost! and 13 lbs below goal weight!

I keep my vitamins in those weekly pill carriers - I have two carriers for each week (I take pills three times a day). When I travel I keep everything in those pill carriers, wrapped in plastic (because sometimes the lids open), and then in a large plastic bag. I also carry fiber in a plastic deli container.

I have never been questioned or stopped by TSA (vitamins ALWAYS go in carry-on because I consider vitamins as my medication).
