I have seen a post years ago on this subject, which is longer lasting without getting rust, just cant remember which one was said to be better. Its time for me to start wearing one as I am developing a cough that I have to gasp for air. Pretty scary at 12 years post op. Thanks ..

I would go with stainless steel as silver can tarnish.

My medical ID is from RoadID, I have one with a silicone bracelet that I wear under my wrist guards when I'm playing roller derby, as well as a plate that slips onto my watch band. Definitely recommend them!

They still have roller derby? I haven't seen it on T.V. since a kid .. Are you a Roller Derby Queen then?

Yes, roller derby is still around! It sort of re-started in the 2000's. We play on a flat track now, and it's not quite as choreographed as the old stuff, but it's quite a serious sport and it's SO MUCH FUN! I am proud to be a roller derby queen ;)

I use to love watching roller derby on t.v. regularly, don't see it anymore, if I did, I'd be watching it. Loved roller skating as a teenager

It's on TV once in a while! ESPN has shown the national championships for the past few years. Most of the big-league games get streamed live on YouTube, though, and they're lots of fun to watch!

What did you put on it? My real question is: should someone have a medical ID if the only issue they have is RNY? I do not wear one, but a dr chastised me once when I said I had RNY at the end of my medical history. She said it was important in terms of how I would be treated. But I never thought of getting a medical ID.

The engraving on my tag has my full name, YOB, phone numbers for my husband and mom, and instructions to call or go to the website for my medical history.

I wear my medical ID for general purposes, not really because of my WLS. I figure first responders should know what medications I'm on and that I have no allergies, that's more important than my surgery stuff. The emergency profile also has stuff like my insurance policy, contact info for my son's daycare (just in case), and phone numbers for all of my doctors.

Thanks for the information on the RoadID, I'm ordering one for me and my husband. Also going to look to see if they have ones for the dogs...
