The couple in the program had their surgery ("gastric bypass", but doesn't specifically state which type of WLS) two years ago, and are both doing GREAT (she looks almost skinny now ) .. Very proud of them, and they have a much brighter future now spending time with their young kids, as the video sweetly shows ..

it said they had gastric bypass - so that would be the type of surgery.

thanks for posting this and the other videos, btw!

I know, but in "laymansland" the term "gastric bypass" (or sometimes "stomach stapling") is unfortunately used as a catchall generic term for WLS of all types, frequently .. Would be interesting to know whether what they had was truly RNY, or V.S.G., etc.

I don't think anyone does stomach stapling anymore. The two most common procedures these days are gastric bypass (also known as RNY) and sleeve (VSG) - so I'm assuming RNY.

I don't know if lay people refer to both surgeries as "gastric bypass" or not - maybe you're right. I honestly don't know. But like I said, when someone uses that term, I assume RNY since that's just the other name for it.

P.S. Just wanted to add that some people still think people get lapband surgery. Ah...no. Even when I had my RNY in 2015, lapband was going the way of the buggy whip. Yet my dentist and my brother both assumed I was getting lapband surgery. So again, you may be right. You'd think with all the people getting WLS these days and shows like "My 600 lb Life" and "Fat Doctor", people would know more about this, but then, most probably don't pay that much attention (or watch those shows...)
