Calories in Perdue Turkey Drumstick?

I just bought the perdue drumsticks that come 2 to a package. Calories say 130 per 3oz but says right next to it roasted drumstick, so would that mean there is 3 oz in one drumstick therefore one drumstick is a serving and if not how would you weigh out 3 oz's besides taking all the meat off the bone? Thanks for any help.

The only way to be sure would be to take the cooked meat off of the bone and weigh it, because the drumsticks vary in size.

why do you have to count every calorie like that ?  does your surgeon's staff have you doing that?

I didn't have the surgery.  Too scared and no insurance, but I've been losing weight on my own for the past 5 months and I always count my calories so that I know exactly how many I am taking in.  I wanted to add more protein and lower my carbs, try to jump start the loss a little since it's slowed some, but on packages of meat that like it's hard to count the calories.  And on the package for a serving it says 3oz (roasted turkey drumstick) so I wasn't sure if that meant that one stick is a serving; otherwise I'll have to take all the meat off the bone and weigh it, which is what I kind of wanted to avoid.

IMVHO you don't know if you are eating 3oz of roasted turkey unless you weigh it.  Turkey pieces, chicken pieces, burgers, pieces of fish, steaks, chops ... all sorts of stuff vary in size. 

A good example of this would be the frozen salmon filet pieces I've eaten postop.  In one bag there are multiple individually-packaged filets, and every one of them was a different size and weight.  In order to be accurate, I would cook the individual filet and then weigh out the 3.5 ounces of cooked salmon that I intended to eat.  The rest went to my husband or to the refrigerator for a different meal.

If you think about it, it really isn't a big deal to remove meat from a bone.

Lisa1023, if you're asking me that question, my answer is that I log everything I eat or drink.  In order to do that I weigh and measure everything or else use reliable serving sizes.  When in doubt, I weigh or measure things myself.

I do that because I am intensely serious about losing this weight and also because, if I run into problems, I can look at my food log and see if and when those problems began to manifest themselves. 

It's all about honesty and diligence.

It is very, very important currently as I am slowly losing the last 20 pounds before I hit my current goal (already hit two goals previously), after which time I will be reevaluating my situation to see if I can/will lose more weight to approach "normal" BMI, which would also put me in the range of my target body fat percentage as determined by evaluations on the Tanita TBF-310 body comp analyzer.

My surgeon's team are very supportive of patients' being diligent about logging all intake.  Even if they weren't, I would be doing it anyway.

I understand the logging! This is great for a lot of us! I have always liked to do this to be able to refer back to as needed!

GREAT JOB MIGHT I ADD!!

As far as the measuring of 3oz... I would pull the meat off and weigh it.
