I had no idea of the foot problem thing... I already have a foot that hurts from plantar fasceitis, when I am on it all day. Now I am hoping to have the DS. Is this going to harm my foot further? hummm if I let my surgeon know about my foot condition do you think it will help?

I would definitely talk to your surgeon about your concerns.  I've had a number of other people mention foot pain to me now (including one with plantar fasceitis), but it sounds like it usually resolves fairly quickly.  Mine isn't resolved yet, but I am seeing measureable progress every day. 
I probably wouldn't have said this the first few days after surgery, but having my diabetes resolved and being completely off the insulin already is worth every bit of what I'm going through.
