DS on Aug 9, 2007 with Dr. Hazem Elariny
Oh glorious day!
My type two diabetes was well-controlled pre-op, and I hadn't had it for long, so my results after DS were quick and great. Post-op, even off of my metformin (which had been my only diabetes med.), my A1C went to 5.0 and then to 4.2, and then my PCP and DS surgeon stopped ordering the A1C lab on me, but I was still curious, so I bought the direct-to-consumer A1C kit made by Bayer, when Walgreens was running a special on it. I got 4.6 from it. (That is a logical increase, since I had been taking more sugars in the 2-3 months before my latest A1C test than I had the months preceeding the test that came back at only 4.2.)
