Starting my pre-op diet today...

Dr. Buchwald doesn't require any weight loss because he does his surgeries open...but weight loss for any surgery is always GREAT.

So, today I am starting to eat less and up the protein. I'm going to add some iron and Vit C to my multi-vitamin, calcium and omeg3 pills for these next 4 weeks. I hope to get down to just liquids the last 1 or 2 weeks.

And no more pop starting today as well...

4 years ago today, I had the lap-band surgery. I didn't loose any weight or get any healthier. 1 month from today, I will have the DS surgery and I WILL LOOSE THE WEIGHT & GET HEALTHIER!

I think that's actually a pretty smart decision.  Even a small WL will help to free up more room in your abdomen for him to work in.  I don't strictly think it's necessary, depending on the surgeon's skill, but it certainly can't hurt any and may be helpful.

I'm sure you know, the first couple days of sugar detox suck ass, it gets much better after day 3 - 4.

That is a great idea! Like you said it is always great to lose the weight right before surgery. You are on the right track. I wish you luck for iron self control on your diet journey. Keep us all posted!
