Psych meds?

So I'm thinking of getting a revision to the DS. Problem is, I may be bipolar so I need to take psych meds. I met with my psychiatrist today, and he was supportive of the surgery although he said he would have to do alot more research. He wanted me to ask the surgeon if it is best to take the meds on an empty stomach or do you need food. I was thinking you all may have some experience with this. What do you recommend. Also for any of you that take psych meds, did the DS really screw up your doses? Thanks for any insights. 

I don't take these but over the years I have known lots of people who do.  Yes, many had to change dosages and or switch away from the XR(extended release) meds.
