Is 6 weeks out too early?

I started back at the gym last week,  I have always been active and when I started back up I tried to do where I left off but realized that was NOT going to happen.  So I lowered my resistance and about 10 minutes on the Elliptical I felt dizzy and sick.  I slowed down and finished 20 minutes but I couldn't wait to get off the machine.   Ever since then it's been so difficult to finish a 20 minute cardio workout.  I am so ready to get my workout ON but I feel likemy body isn't.  What gives?  I also wanted to start working out with a personal trainer.  Am I doing this stuff too Early?  Should I be waiting?  My Doctor told me as long as I dont hurt I can do it but Why am I so tired so early?   Any suggestions?

i was cleared for all exercise @ 6 weeks as well.  however, it took me quite some time to ramp back up, i too felt dizzy often.  your body is in its' rapid weight loss phase and energy is going to be a problem for a while.  just do what you can and try not to get impatient it will take some time to build up your endurance.  i definitely suggest strength training, your body will shed muscle very quickly (not much you can do about that), but adding in strength training early will mitigate some of the muscle loss.  you will thank yourself later for strength training early.  best of luck!
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

First rule, listen to your body but don't baby your body.  Definately start resistant training asap, that  will help you burn fat faster.  I waited and regret that I did.  Now I have caught up and everything is fine but if I had to do it again I would have done it from 6 weeks out.
