Less than 1/4?  Wow.  That's appalling.

Gwen, I am not an apologist for the band - I am well aware of issues. But just to point out that that was a single site study of 201 patients. I am not going to get into statistical arguments with the OP but although statistics clearly show the band is not the wonderful tool it was believed to be at first, it needs to be remembered that bands prior to 2006 were the now obsolete 4cc band and that prior to around 2005/6 the method of implantation was different.  All the patients in this study therefore fall into the obsolete band and obsolete surgical technique category. 

And I'm not going to get into a debate either:)

   I just like to provide current statical studies when ppl are looking for information or Research as many like to call it. ;)

The facts remain the same, bands started in Belgium in 1985 FDA approved them for use in the U.S. in 2001  The SIZE may have changed  4cc to the New larger 10-14 cc bands per Allergan but the Complications haven't changed at all.

But Don't believe me, get a copy of the recent band literature from your Surgeon it  lists the EXACTLY same complications.

  I'd like to see the statical data for those  "NEW" bands if anyone has any of it. Its a shame because they are probably just as Dismal if not worse.
