gastric bypass in mexico

just exploring my options. hope someone will share the doc they used and there experience with aftercare in the states, and any complications

I had my gastric bypass last November with Dr. Joya in Puerto Vallarta. He was wonderful, and it was top notch from start to finish!  I do my follow-up care with my personal doctor here in the states. 

If people are self paying, most are going with the sleeve or ds. You would self pay for bypass? May I ask why you would choose to bypass your stomach and not use your pyloric valve? Do you understand what rny is and what a sleeve is?

i would not dare go into anything concerning MY body that i have not done research on. As stated in the first post. this is an OPTION for ME and i was looking for someone to share there story and experience. thats all. thanks for your post 

 I'm not trying to be funny, I was making sure you really know the physical differences between rny and sleeve. Its unusual for someone to self pay for rny over a sleeve. 

I don't think it's unususal at all. Everyone has their own reasons why they do things, and it isn't necessarily an issue of ignorance or lack of research.  I researched it for 8 years. The reason why I did not to the sleeve is frankly I don't trust a surgery that is so "new."

When most people are already halfway there, they generally go for what is not only the most sucessful WLS, but also a much easier revision: to the DS.

If your sleeve has stretched, it can be made smaller rather than inflicting a pouch on yourself with all its downfalls. With the RnY, the malabsorption of food lessens after a couple of years, but the malabsorption of nutrients never does. Why pay the price without receiving the benefits?
