HAIR HAIR EVEYWHERE
on 12/4/12 10:12 pm - Bumfuknowhere, Canada
Most people seem to lose the most at 3 months or 50 lbs lost, whichever comes first. I lost mine at 50 lbs and I see that is where you are at. I had long dark hair and it was everywhere and it clogged the drains. It will grow back in time.
Oh, lordy, don't say that! I'm down 43 lbs! Time to start binging! ;) (Kidding, of course!)
The weight loss is worth it. The weight loss is worth it. The weight loss is worth it. Sigh.

Boy do I know what you mean....I can see my scalp, but I have very thin hair anyway even before surgery as I have had low iron before and after surgery (no blood work yet until 5 months at the end of this month I get it done but I know it is probably still low even though I doubled my iron pills because I am constantly tired.... I really hope it grows back, but I am still happy 85 pounds is gone FOREVER!! lol
Melissa!
I'm 3 months out and 72 lbs down. A few weeks ago my hair started falling out by the fist full. I had thick hair but now it is really starting to thin. I did my 3 month blood work a bit early and I am low in iron, ferritin and D so have increase my supplements as the bariatric centre staff advised. I'm also trying really hard to increase my protein from 60-80 g a day to 80-100+ in case that will help. All feedback on this fabulous site and from TWH is that it is temporary so fingers crossed!
My hair is long and super thick...I go get it thinned by more then HALF so I have stopped going to get it thinned in preperation for the hair loss :)
Hope yours stops soon! :)

So NOT looking forward to this... :( I haven't had the hair loss yet, but I know it's just a matter of time. I have longish hair (well, long for me, anyhow - a bit past my shoulders), but at the first sign of this, I'm going straight to the hairdresser and getting it chopped off into a very short cut for as long as it's falling out, and hopefully it will be less noticeable.
It's a real drag that it happened all at once like that for you, though!
Did anyone hear DNTO (CBC Radio) the other day, where the topic was hair loss due to medical issues or trauma? They mentioned cancer, and I think some other traumatic event for someone else, but I didn't hear anything about bariatric surgery. (But I didn't catch the whole program either.)
