What can I take 6 days preop for a sore throat ?

My DD has had a horrible cough and sore throat for a week now. I have been using Lysol and washing my hands like a mad woman. I am now starting to have a little tickle and was wondering what I can take to try to help avoid getting sick.
My surgery is on Thursday and I'm starting to worry about what will happen if I get this cold.

Try to gargle with warm water that is very salty.

If you have a Netty Pot, then use it with 2 packets at a time...... twice a day.

Also, Using a Q-tip, put Polysporin into your nostrils and keep them moist.

Start taking Cold-FX or Echinacea...... whatever works for you.

I had a horrible cold when I went for my pre-op, they told me as long as it wasn't in my chest it would be ok. Feel better soon.
