Water

I'm 1.5 weeks post-op. Is it okay to drink more than the 30 mls of water every 15 mins if I can tolerate it? I'm not gulping it by any means, but probably taking small sips about every 10 mins or so. I feel really thirsty and all the other stuff just doesn't quench my thirst. When eating I defiantly follow the 15 min rule and can feel when I've eaten enough but the water is different. I'm worried about stretching my pouch but I need my water!

By 1.5 weeks post-op, I was definitely drinking more water than that.  I was only abiding by the 30 mls every 15 min rule for "food" that I was eating (call it "food" because it was still pretty close to the liquid state).  I drank water as much as possible, so I say as long as you can tolerate it you're good to go!  I don't think water can stretch your pouch.

That's good!  Of course if it starts to make you feel badly then slow back down, but otherwise being hydrated is a good thing!

Drink all the water you can only in small sips. No gulping, that's the ticket! Ice chips help too.  If you can, go thirty minutes after eating before you start to sip water again. Don't worry sipping water won't stretch your pouch. You just want to keep food in your pouch for a while and experience a full feeling. This helps to alert you to when you are full so you can stop eating. Drinking while eating or too soon after, can push the food along and out of the pouch before it should. So take your time eating and when enough time has passed, drink all the water you want.

It gets easier as you go along. You will get used to how much you can take in and the timing of things.

Long you live and high you fly
And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be.
