I have a problem...

I have zero desire to eat anything....excep****er. I'm worried that because I'm not getting in what I need I'm going to fall apart. I can't stand the taste of my chewable vitamins (and can't do liquid, and can't crush and mix with anything because the taste makes me sick). I will take a bite or two of food and feel soooo full. So much so, that even after waiting an hour, im still too full to put anything else in my mouth. All I want is water....I know this can't go on, but if I force myself to eat, I'm just gunna feel like laying in bed all the time because I'm soooo full! HELP!

What about focusing on protein shakes? I "ate" those for a few weeks after surgery.

I crushes my pills and ate them with a very small amount of unsweetened apple sauce.

You need to get your protein and vitamins in!

I'm starting to dislike protein shakes immensely, almost to the point where if I smell them, I feel neausous ...and I absolutely cannot stomach crushing pills with apple sauce, yogurt, or anything else Like I said, I need help

oups... did not see this answer before I did post ... must have been done at the same time. Go to Popeye's and try some other protein drinks.

I had a berry one in the beginning - same thing.... could not stand it anymore after a while... I did find a great choc one.

I was on pintrest and saw someone freezing little protein cubes and eating them as popcicles?..I know its freezing outside but maybe this could help...Try logging on Pintrest and checking gastric bypass protein shake options.

Hope things get better for you

Nicole - your surgery was still very recent - NO big deal! Just sip your water and try to get your protein drink in. In the beginning I took 2 good protein drinks in a day - protein first angry. You mentioned you can have water - add some protein powder to it!

I would focus on that. You are probably still a bit swollen from the surgery.

In regards to vitamins - I assume you tried the Centrum 50+ chewable? Did you try to crush them and put them in Mott's unsweetened apple sauce? That worked well for me.

In regards to only 2 bites... that is OK - Just "make them count" - Those 2 bites make them really great. (quality wise) - very soon you will be able to eat a bit more.

Best of luck!

Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.

Make sure you stop drinking 1/2 hour before you try to eat. You may be filling up on water. As to vitamins all you can do is try various ways to get them in or try a different brand.

Take a small dose of gravol before you eat like about 30 mins before.  Not enough to knock you out but the children's chewables are only 15 mg.  They take the edge of the nausea without the drowsiness plus they are chewable.

Im doing good on the protein shakes but finding it really hard to get the water in.  try pouring the protein shakes in a cup with a lid so you cant smell it as much?   im with you.  Its hard to get it all in.

You might want to try a protein drink that is water-based so that it is not thick, a Korol-aid or juice consistency. I found rev protein shakes too thick and heavy at first.

Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora.  Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.
